Another digital painting from a digital photograph: Joan Chen. I believe from her role as Josie Packard on Twin Peaks, but what with one thing and another I haven't watched up to the point in the series where she gets turned into a doorknob. Or however that happens.

I don't think I'll add a mature warning. It's a mesh shirt, but there's no visible nipple. And there are enough people smoking in my gallery already that the upholstery's permanently ruined.

The photograph I was working from is here, so you can see that I did this beautiful woman absolutely no justice.

Comments welcome, critique appreciated. I'd say no spoilers, but the show is thirty years old and clearly I've already spoiled myself on some of it.

I have nothing to say that will convey my envy of your talent. So. There's that. It's a great picture, and I admire your work-- be it still life or other wise.

Well, thank you. It was a hell of a lot of work getting it together, if that assuages your envy at all.

It does nothing but stoke the fires of my meager talents; I crawl on the ground of the talentless wastes while looking at your shining visage, brightening the sky above me. With my dying breath, I reach up, as if to finally touch your greatness, only to grasp at sunbeams. The last of my strength crashes to the grounds with my hopes, my final, darkening thought as your white-hot talent burns into my dead retinas is a long lament to my life time of failure and DGAF.

My god, why have you forsaken me?

Let's just say you were pretty stingy with your sacrificial goats. Also DGAFs are not the currency of success, but mostly it was the goats.

UGH I'm sorry, but do you know how hard it is to get goats in the middle of California? Like, REALLY fucking hard. Nobody sells quality goats anymore. Back in MY day, there was a goat-keep on every street corner, it was literally RAINING goats.

Excuses, excuses. The fact is, you signed on for goats. And then you failed to deliver. Verbal contract unfulfilled, right there.

Watching the progression of this on tumblr, I am doubly impressed. The smoke and the way you've rendered the wrinkles of the mesh are my favourite bits, but over all, it's very nice.

That's good, I guess XD Better than realizing I'm an utter hack, anyway. The wrinkles took a lot of work, but the smoke was a surprise. I didn't expect it to turn out as well as it did. So, thanks.

I also really like the somewhat sketchy quality of the background. It adds a little flair to the simple out-of-focus background of the original photo.

I'm a bit less pleased with the background, honestly. As far as detail level goes it's about right, but I'm pretty sure I intended to go over it once more before finishing the image, just to even things out. Fix the tilt that it looks like the folding screen is on, haha.
